Toronto Golf Show Investment Partner Graeme R. Kirkland, CIM, Senior Investment Advisor with Argosy Securities Inc. combines two of his passions (golf and hockey) as he hosts two former Toronto Maple Leaf players who will compete against show participants in The New Graeme Kirkland ‘One-Putt Challenge’! Not only will fans get the chance to compete against former NHL players Carlo Colaiacovo and Shayne Corson, there’s also some great prizes up for grabs!

Former Toronto Maple Leaf Carlo Colaiacovo will be competing at the Graeme Kirkland booth on Friday January 31st from 2 to 4 p.m., while former Leaf Left-Winger Shayne Corson will be competing against fans at the booth on Saturday February 1st from 1 to 3 p.m.

Carlo Colaiacovo is a Canadian defenseman man who played for several NHL teams including the Buffalo Sabres, Philadelphia Flyers and The Toronto Maple Leafs. He is also the co-host of the show First Up with Korolnek and Colaiacovo on TSN 1050 Radio.

Shayne Corson is a former Toronto Maple Leaf’s left-winger who also played for various NHL teams including the Montreal Canadiens, Edmonton Oilers, St. Louis Blues and the Dallas Stars.

Graeme Kirkland is a golf superfan and a longtime sponsor of the Toronto Golf & Travel Show, as well as being an ongoing sponsor of numerous charity golf tournaments throughout Ontario and across Canada.

“I love golf and many of my clients love golf—it’s a way of life for me and that’s why I am proud to be the Official Investment Partner of the Toronto Golf & Travel Show,” says Graeme R. Kirkland, “I love the competitive challenge of competing against myself and trying to better my game. When you play golf and are in the zone, something magical happens!”

Growing up, Graeme says he had dreams of being a professional golfer, hockey player or a musician. “I didn’t do the first two, but I did become a professional musician who travelled the country and played drums on several Juno-award winning albums.”

Asked how he discovered golf, Graeme says fate led him to the game when he was about nine years old. “A friend asked if I wanted to make some money and of course I said yes, so he and I caddied at the Weston Golf & Country Club,” answers Graeme. “I caddied for people like Tom Woodall and saw some very high level of golf being played.”

Graeme gave up golf when he became a professional musician, and didn’t pick up a club for years. “I was so mad at golf that I quit for 15 years, plus I was on the road a lot travelling as a musician, but when I returned to the game, I realized how much fun it was,” states Graeme. “I was able to laugh and have a good time again. What drew me to golf is a chance to unwind and get away from my desk for a while. As a full-service professional investment advisor, I have put in years of 100-hour work weeks helping my clients better their investments and helping them realize their dreams. I love my work, but I also love golf. Many of my clients love golf as well so it gives me a chance to be around people who share my passion.”

Graeme has been in the investment industry since 2001. As a full service, proactive professional Investment Advisor, he provides personal and customized advice for his clients. His comprehensive approach to overall financial health is founded on many years of experience in integrated wealth management and full-service investment and portfolio management with some of the leading Bay Street firms and Senior Investment Professionals. Says Graeme, “I manage funds ranging from 500K to $5 million and up. I work with primarily blue-chip focused investments. My job is to help my clients become financially stronger so they can enjoy life more– and have more time to play golf or live their dream.”

Graeme is bursting with excitement at the chance to sponsor the first Graeme Kirkland ‘One-Putt Challenge’ against former Toronto Maple Leaf players Carlo Colaiacovo and Shayne Corson. “If a show guest beats the NHL veteran player in the One-Putt Challenge, they have a chance to win some great prizes including Graeme Kirkland-branded Pro V1 golf balls, golf towels, golf shirts and more. “The Giant Golfer” is another guest that golf fans will see at the Graeme Kirkland booth, along with a “surprise guest” that Graeme hints is widely known and an excellent golfer!

There’s a great Ben Hogan quote which sums up Graeme’s passion for the game: Hogan once said, “Whether my schedule the following day called for a tournament round or merely a trip to the practice tee, the prospect that there was going to be golf in it made me feel privileged and extremely happy, and I couldn’t wait for the sun to come up the next morning so that I could get out on the course again.”
